*RULES OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS -
A mixed marital art is a typical fight sport, which uses varied fight methods, such as wrestling and striking. Modern MMA games are very famous. Marital arts is also known as 'cage fighting' in the United States due to its association with octagonal cage fighting, UFC. The MMA promotions in Canada, U.K and U.S refer to 'cage' due to their involvement with UFC events. This type of combat tournament was introduced in 1993. The first one was, 'Ultimate Fighting Championship'. The rules were bare minimum for mimicking the effectiveness of the game. Towards late 1990s, more rules and regulations were implemented for safety and security of the fighters. MMA has seen massive growth thereon.
The Unified Rules pertaining to MMA were set by State Athletic Commission of New
Jersey. To form uniform rules all over U.S, large number of sate commissions have
incorporated rules for MMA. For a fighting event in any state, it must adhere to
rules of the State Athletic Commission. Hawaii is the only place where Unified rules
are not compulsory in mixed marital arts. Indian cities are also excluded from the
state commission's jurisdiction. Some of the rules are as follows-

There are 9 weight classes in MMA as permissible limits under Nevada State Athletic Commission. Fighters are usually weighed in lbs.
